Cocoa Beach Pier, Cocoa Beach, Florida
401 MEADE AVE., Cocoa Beach, Fl 32931  (1 mile north SR 520 just off A1A)

Question: How do you create the ultimate Beach Party?
Answer: Combine Cocoa Beach in the spring, one of the world's best rock and roll bands, great food and drinks, and thousands of beautiful people.

That is exactly what the Cocoa Beach Pier has in store for the Space Coast to kick off the 41st Annual Easter Surfing Festival week this March 18,2005.

The Beach Boys, one of the world’s most famous bands who have sold over 100 million albums, will perform all of their greatest hits at the home of East Coast surfing, The Cocoa Beach Pier.
The event is being promoted by Myers Productions and presented by Panama Jack, Savings Safari, Sun Coast R.V and TFC Nextel “The sponsors have reached out and wrapped their arms around the concept of The Beach Boys playing a concert on Cocoa Beach. Many thanks also to the other sponsors, Coca-Cola, Michelob Ultra, Captain Morgan, Smirnoff, Bright House Networks, Central Florida News 13, Hometown News, Space Coast Living Magazine, The Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, The Mai Tiki Gallery, The City of Cocoa Beach and The Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce for all of their support. All of the great sponsors have helped to bring The Beach Boys back to Cocoa Beach” said Giles Malone, President of the Cocoa Beach Pier.

A special concert stage will be erected on the beach so that all guests will have an excellent view. The gates to the concert area on the beach will open at 6pm and the concert will begin at 7pm. “The Beach Boys played a concert at the Pier in February of 2004 and the weather was a bit chilly. The Beach Boys were thrilled with the way that Cocoa Beach welcomed them last time, so they have arranged their schedule to make a special return engagement in 2005. To have The Beach Boys play a concert on the beach to kick off Easter Surf Week at the Pier is like a dream come true for all of our local customers, employees and management team”, said Giles Malone, President of The Cocoa Beach Pier.

Central Florida News 13, will welcome all concert guests and The Beach Boys from the main stage. A top local band will be given an opportunity to open the evening from the main stage. Any Central Florida bands who are interested in being the opening act should contact the Pier to audition. The same band will keep the party going and entertain on the Pier after the concert is finished at around 9:30pm.

The Mayor of the City of Cocoa Beach, Skip Beeler and the City Commission, will issue a special City of Cocoa Beach Proclamation naming March 18, 2005 as “Beach Boys Day” in Cocoa Beach. At the concert, Mayor Beeler will present Mike Love and the rest of The Beach Boys band with a special “Key to the City of Cocoa Beach” embossed on a surf board by Quiet Flight Surf Shop. “The Beach Boys are a true American icon and we are thrilled to have one of the world’s most famous bands perform a concert at the home of East Coast Surfing- The Cocoa Beach Pier. This is a great event for our City” said Mayor Beeler.
The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and are widely considered America’s finest and most important Rock and Roll Band. Rolling Stone Magazine voted The Beach Boys song “Good Vibrations” as the number one song of the century.

“The Beach Boys just have so many great songs. It is going to be totally awesome to see them play a concert during Spring on Cocoa Beach at the Pier. This will be like an old fashioned homecoming for Cocoa Beach”, said Wayne Coombs, owner of the Mai Tiki Gallery in Cocoa Beach and sponsor of the event. The Mai Tiki Gallery will be creatively decorating the concert stage on the beach where The Beach Boys will perform. The Cocoa Beach High School Cheerleading squad will perform during the hit song “Be True To Your School”.

The Cocoa Beach Pier has been the host to over 102 surfing contests and exhibitions during its 42-year life. The concert venue will be nestled on the south beach area next to the Pier and concert guests are encouraged to bring a beach blanket and enjoy the great sounds of 60’s, 70’s and 80’s of The Beach Boys. No chairs may be carried in for public safety reasons.

“The Beach Boys music is timeless and it always sounds good. The beach, the surf, the Pier, and The Beach Boys…what more do we need for an awesome beach party”, said Michelle Giers of Cocoa Beach.
The Beach Boys concert tickets are available at all TicketMaster locations and at the Cocoa Beach Pier. Advance tickets are $30 for general admission and $60-$100 for VIP seats. Tickets purchased on the day of the show will be $5 more each.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida will be a recipient of proceeds from the event as the non-profit organization will also be selling tickets. The BBBS organization administrates and organizes volunteer “BIGS” (adult mentors) to meet regularly with their “LITTLE” (children in need of adult support in their lives).

For those wishing to eat dinner before the concert, the Pier has many restaurants to choose from. “The Atlantic Ocean Grill” and “Marlins Grill”, both located on the Pier, will be taking dinner reservations for the evening.
